Children’s dentistry is an important facet of Strohman Dental. We strive to provide an anxiety-free experience for you and your child.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry has a saying for this: “first visit by first birthday.” Our children’s dentistry services accommodate children of all ages—even as early as when your child’s first tooth comes in. Schedule an appointment today with Dr. Shelly Strohman, and take the first step toward protecting your child’s beautiful smile.
If your child has a tooth, it should be brushed.
Use age-appropriate toothbrushes and a small amount of a fluoride toothpaste. A good rule of thumb to follow: The younger the child, the softer the bristles of the toothbrush and the smaller the amount of toothpaste. You should brush your children’s teeth until they can hold and use the toothbrush on their own—usually around the age of two. You should teach your child to spit out the toothpaste and to rinse thoroughly as well.
Dr. Strohman recommends dental sealants and fluoride supplements to help protect children from tooth decay.
Dental sealants are most often utilized to protect the chewing surfaces of the back teeth, although they can be used on any pitted tooth surface. Properly cared for, sealants can last for years and can keep their teeth cavity-free.
Fluoride supplements are applied to enamel for only a few minutes to replenish a tooth’s natural minerals. The process is quick and comfortable, and they will give your child additional protection against cavities.
